Carlos Zapata hails from Colombia, South America but now lives in the UK with his wife Penny and son Thomas. To my mind he is one of the leading automata creators in the UK if not the world. His work shows such imagination and creativity, coupled with the use of vibrant colour and intricate mechanisms. When he showed me his Van Gogh head, I knew I just had to put it up on this site. I have known him for a few years but it was extremely strange to learn that we had both been working on similar projects albeit in a different medium.
